2008 Portland Dance Festival

If you love to dance or are just “dance curious,” this is an event I highly recommend! My girlfriends and I checked out last year’s Portland Dance Festival and, although we had virtually no dance experience between the three of us (especially true partner dancing), we had an awesome time! Originally we were only planning on attending the 3 hour dance instruction session for beginners (which is free to the public) on Friday night. Because we had such a great time during the lessons though, we decided to stick around for the dance after that. That night we stayed and danced until after midnight, sometimes just watching, but mostly dancing and learning as we went along. Needless to say we went home happily exhausted. And since they had beginner classes all weekend, we came back Saturday and participated in several of the professionally instructed dance workshops. By then we were hooked, so we stayed for the swing dance party that night that went until 4am.

We are definitely planning to go back for this year’s festival (hopefully we’ll make it for all four days) and dance several nights away, all over again!
