Underdog Sports Co-ed Adult Kickball!

August 11, 2008

Portland adult co-ed kickballNo man bunts! Gentlemen, you can’t kick like your great-grandmother and expect to get on base. This is Underdog Kickball, where “man bunts” are an automatic out and grounds for heckling from your own teammates for the rest of the game. Women, however, are completely entitled to such a cop-out kick. And as a member of the genetically smaller muscle-massed gender, I take my bunts with pride! As I step up to the plate in my knee high socks, cut-up tee shirt, head and wrist bands, I try to fake out the other team one of two ways: looking tough as nails by popping all my knuckles at once, or pointing 20 yards out towards left field. Standing with my behind touching the back stop fence I usually get up a good speed before I make a dead stop right before the plate to merely tap that red rubber ball. At this juncture in the play, any “smart” woman would run like hell in hopes of making it on base. However if you are an extra “smart” woman, you would be wise to keep a peripheral view on the ball so it doesn’t fly out of no where to knock your ass out.

Underdog Sports League started in 2003 under the name Pacific Northwest Kickball. It’s a 21 and over league for people looking to have fun and play sports without a super competitive edge.

If you are interested in participating check out their website. The league also have several other extra curricular sports like bowling, drinks on links, and dodgeball!

This is my first year playing, I think I’m one of the oldest guys around, but I’m having a great time.

Lots of wins, so lots of pie and shaved ice up at Mississippi Pizza.
