Apple & Pear Tasting at Portland Nursery
October 17, 2008
Celebrate Oregon at the Portland Nursery, there will be live music from local bands and lots of delicious fresh apples and pears to taste. This well organized event has something for everyone with a kids tent and much more!
Celebrating community, this weekend (October 18-19), Friends of Portland Community Gardens will join the vendors on hand with their cards, tee shirts and a few surprises for sale to benefit the community garden program. Portland Impact will also be there running a canned food drive.
The Kids Tent is sponsored by Kellog, Black Forest and Bumper Crop Portland Storytellers Guild, Cosmo balloon creations, face painting, a scavenger hunt, hands-on crafts, and a few more surprises!
Cooking Demos local chefs will share their recipes for apples and pears. The tasting tables will be overflowing with 60 varieties of apples and pears to taste, and many varieties for sale by the pound at bargain prices (a portion of sales this year will once again go to benefit Elders in Action). All the apples come from the Hood River valley in north central Oregon, small family orchards that grow apples and pears.
Keeping it green, all of the plastic bags, bowls and eating utensils are biodegradable!
