Besaw’s Cafe
June 2, 2008
Besaw’s Cafe is one of the classic breakfast spots in Portland. If you love home-cooked comfort food made from mostly local/organic ingredients, and you like your portions large, this place will be right up your alley. The Biscuits and Andouille Gravy is rich and salty and perfect. The Farmer’s Hash is out of control. And if you have a sweet tooth in the morning, Besaw’s “From the Griddle” selections are fantastic: Apple Fritter French Toast, Banana Pecan Buttermilk Pancakes, Oatmeal Pancakes and Belgium Waffles just to name a few. Besaw’s is a Portland restaurant with a long, colorful history. What started as a beer parlor and gambling hall became a prohibition-era restaurant. Since then it has been a popular neighborhood meeting place where you can always expect a good fresh meal, friendly service and a slice of Portland history.
