D. B. Cooper’s Parachute Found?
April 1, 2008
There was some major excitement in the world of D. B. Cooper enthusiasts, amateur sleuths and conspiracy theorists this past week. It was reported that an old parachute recently found in Amboy, WA might be linked to the infamous unsolved case of D. B. Cooper, an enigma who, in 1971, jumped out of a plane above Southern Washington with $200,000 of ransom money strapped to his chest. This morning, much to the chagrin of D. B. Cooper clue-seekers, the parachute was inspected and immediately dismissed as a valid clue by none other than Earl Cossey, the Issaquah, WA skydiving instructor who packed Cooper’s four parachutes just prior that rainy November flight in 1971. It turns out Cooper’s parachutes were made of rip-stop nylon, not the silk chute found last week.
