Diamonds, No Thanks…

Give me an interesting chunk of polished agate or semi-precious stone and I’ll be dazzled.

Portland jewelry designers Taya and Silvija have created some beautiful pieces of art with simple stones and metal working. I met the sisters last week at the Alberta Art Hop, and my daughter and I walked away from their table each wearing a necklace adorned with an aquamarine charm and a really gorgeous pair of earrings that we swore we’d share.

Taya and Silvija sell a variety of unique dangling earrings made with unpolished silver and semi-precious stones. The charms are made by attaching unique pieces of stone to a metal hoop. Most of their designs are circular, feminine and elegant.

Prices are reasonable…chains $20, charms $20, earrings range from $20-50ish. More elaborate necklaces are available at higher prices. They have also created some glorious bracelets.
