Good Vibes at E’Njoni Café
April 21, 2008
There’s nothing I like more than supporting a small local restaurant not just because it’s friendly and close by, but because the food also happens to be delicious. At E’NJoni Café on N. Killingsworth, a relatively new and very affordable Ethiopian restaurant, you get treated as if you are a close friend of the family who just arrived after long weary travels. E’Njoni’s owners, who hail from Eritrea, a small country in Northeast Africa bordered by Ethiopia on the south and the Red Sea on the east, are more than happy to regale you with personal accounts of their youth and culture. Every last detail in E’Njoni exemplifies the love that goes into its day to day operation. And did I mention the food is exceptional!I tried the vegetable combination plate, six delicious and simple pureed vegetable dishes all on a bed of on a plate of wonderful injera bread (which also doubles as your silverware for the meal). To that, I added a slightly spicy lamb stew dish on recommendation from the owner and was not disappointed. I can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!
