Happy Hour at Pambiche Baby!

April 24, 2008

Pambiche understands Portland. Give us authentic cuisine, a heated patio and relatively cheap happy hour prices and we will patronize you ’til the day we die–or at least move to a different neighborhood. My favorite order at Pampiche is one of the savory Empanadas, and order of Maduros (fried ripe plantains) and a refreshing Palm Beech Cooler (white wine, fresh juices & crushed mint). As you may have already guessed, Pambiche specializes in Cuban cuisine. And they do it well. For its size, it is amazing how many tables Pambiche turns over on a good day. And rightly so! They really have it down to a science here: tried and true dishes, large drinks, unbelievable homemade desserts and friendly service. The restaurant is located in a brightly painted multi-color Victorian house on the bustling corner of 28th and Glisan and always plays upbeat Latin music. During Happy Hour (which runs from 2-6), all dishes are under $4, including some larger items like the delicious Creole Fried Pork with Garlic Mojo. They also have a selection of wonderful traditional Cuban coffee drinks like the CafĂ© Jerez, which is Cuban espresso with sherry and crema chantilly. If you haven’t been to Pambiche yet, now you know what you’ve been missing!
