Hood River Wine Celebration
June 11, 2008
I love Hood River. I love their bars and restaurants, their windsurfers, their swimming holes, their artisan cheeses. And I really love their wineries. A couple of years ago I attended a cask-tasting at Cathedral Ridge Winery and was uber impressed. The oft-overlooked Hood River Valley has been slowly gaining a reputation as one of the Northwest’s best grape-growing and winemaking regions. As a matter of fact, Cathedral Ridge was awarded Oregon Winery of the Year by Wine Press NW in 2007. All the more reason to head out to their F-R-E-E wine celebration this summer. Activities include wine tasting, vineyard and winery tours, and fun activities for the entire family. Again, admission to most Fruit Loop (a general term for all the wineries and growers of the Hood River Valley) wineries and attractions is free, and most are open from at least 10 to 5. For more information go their website.
