Interstate Farmers Market

June 26, 2008

What better way to ring in the summer than to hit up one of Portland’s many farmers markets. One of my new favorites is the Interstate Farmers Market, which happens every Wednesday from 3-7 pm until September 24th. The market is located next to Overlook Park on the Max Yellow Line and offers fresh local produce, meat and fish, baked goods, flowers and live music. The Interstate Farmers Market is hosted by Kaiser Permanente, which provides free parking for cars and bikes.

As the summer approaches, look for more fruits and vegetables. There are more than 25 vendors selling everything from beets and asparagus to homemade tamales and gluten-free whole-grain breads. Some music acts coming up this summer at the market include The Underscore Orkestra, Lew Jones, Samba Feat, Kate Man, John Twist and Debbianne DeRose. Below is a list of participating vendors:

Al Forno Ferruzza
Baird Family Orchards
Boyco Food
Brownie Farm
Carol’s Nuts and Candies
City Garden Farms LLC
Country Charm Acres
Crabapple Company
Creative Growers
Dante’s Garden Pesto
Deep Roots Farm
Happy Barker
Heavenly Bites
Herr’s Family Farm
Hot Mama Salsa
Liepold Farms
Micro-Mercantes
Mocha Roma’s
New Cascadia Traditional
Packer Orchards and Bakery

Serious Bread
Simon Sampson
Stephens Farm
Sun Gold Farm (Vicki’s Produce)
