Last Thursdays on Alberta

April marks the return of Last Thursday – beginning in the afternoon of every last Thursday of the month, art galleries, artists, crafters, and performers set up shop on the sidewalks of Alberta Street.

You can literally set up a card table and bring your art or crafts to sell on the sidewalk – I’ve seen everything from museum-worthy paintings to colorful graffiti to clever home-made buttons, all accompanied by mouth-watering street vendors and free wine (usually set up in the store galleries, but they run out early!) The revelry has reached such a fervor that it’s finally become necessary to close the street, thus opening up way more room for the families, friends, lovers, and dogs that make for one of the best people-watching events in Portland.

Grab a friend, bring some cash (you never know), and head out for a guaranteed, quintessential-Portland good time.
