Magness Memorial Tree Farm

Magness Memorial Tree Farm is what I?d like to call a buried treasure.  This gorgeous forest is located just SW of Wilsonville and Sherwood amidst Ladd Hill, so kind of hidden away.  A friend of mine took me there this past weekend for a good hike/run along the trails.  There are 2.5 miles of trails that loop around the land and can be a bit steep in spots so get prepared.   The property totals 80 acres full of unique trees, plants, windy streams, recreation field, small picnic shelter and even some cute log cabins that you can rent overnight.  The land was donated to the World Forestry Center back in 1977 by Howard & Panzy Magness to keep the natural habitat reserved.  Local residents, as well as international travelers, have had the pleasure of visiting ever since.

  1. Nice place.

I learned about the tree farm and forest back in the 1980s when I met a man who cared and maintained the facility.

His background of forestry and mine of arborist / landscape were very similar.

It was fun doing some small volunter work there.

    Cheers,
