Sit down do a four-course Italian dinner in Nostrana’s comfortable dining area, where you’re welcome to stay for hours (even though it’s usually packed), and enjoy a uniquely Portland dining experience.
Among this town’s many Italian restaurants, the Buckman neighborhood’s Nostrana stands out for the behind-the-scenes culinary talent, the quality of ingredients, and the professional service. Nostrana boasts one of the Northwest’s most talented chefs, Cathy Whims, and a roster of local suppliers reads like a who’s-who of Slow Food: The Boutards of Ayers Creek Farm, Laura Masterson of 47th Ave Farm, these are some of our regions finest organic farmers. Serious locavore appeal.
I love that Nostrana’s cuisine takes its cue from rustic, old world Italian fare while the menu, which changes daily according to what’s freshest or in season, and is posted on Twitter; worth following just for the tantalizing tweets. When in doubt, go for the pizza. It’s wood-fired such that the crust is perfect so it’s sure to please. Nostrana offers a surprisingly affordable Happy Hour menu, a thoughtful and varied wine list, as well as some generous and imaginative cocktails.
