Ladd’s Addition
Ladd’s Addition [Portland Zip Code 97214] is a neighborhood in southeast Portland, Oregon known for its historic homes, criss-crossing roads, and large, European-style turnabout gardens. Found within the Hosford-Abernethy neighborhood, Ladd’s addition is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Portland. Named after William S. Ladd, a former Portland mayor, Ladd’s Addition was subdivided for residential use in 1891. Ladd designed the neighborhood with the vision of diagonal streets surrounding a central park, inspired by Washington D.C. The Hosford-Abernathy neighborhood, which contains Ladd’s Addition, is bordered by the Willamette River and the Buckman, Richmond and Brooklyn neighborhoods.
