Portland’s 4th of July Fireworks!

July 5, 2008

What a Blast! We ended up going to the Waterfront Park in Portland to Celebrate Independence Day, Although we’ve written several posts leading up to the event, we had no idea what time the actual fireworks would begin, so…we moosied down Hawthorne and grabbed some epic Chinese food, then headed back to the park around 6:30. Little did we know the fireworks didn’t start till 10:00! We hunted for what we thought would be an amazing viewpoint on the grass and setup camp surrounded by thousands of other firework-goers.

Three and a half hours passed and the party began, yep - that big tree to our right was infact taking the entire view of the fireworks that we’re being set off. This was probably a good thing though as my 2 year old got a little scared (his first firework display) but again, my little trooping 7 month old had the time of his life!

What an amazing display! one of the best I’ve ever seen and easily the best ending I’ve ever heard. A great night and well worth the wait. Portlanders sure know how to make some noise. Next year, our goal is to avoid big trees and get there even earlier!
