Reach the Bridge Run
May 19, 2008
On June 29th, help fight lung cancer by participating in this year’s Reach the Bridge Run, Portland’s only reverse-timed race. As they say, leave as early as you want or as late as you dare! The challenge is to reach the bridge before it goes up at 9am-SHARP! One option is to take the 8K course (or shorter 2K option) which is all downhill. Starting at the World Forestry Center in Hoyt Arboretum, you’ll cruise past the Rose Garden in Washington Park down to PGE Park, ending with a straight shot down Burnside. The Finish Line Festival will take place on the Burnside Bridge.
At 9am, the bridge will go up to the sounds of Portland’s Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers. This marks the end of the race, but just the beginning of the party!
All proceeds from the event will benefit the American Lung Association of Oregon and help fund lung cancer research. Participants who fundraise for this event are eligible for great prizes and will help fund the research that makes an impact on this devastating disease.
