Sauvie Island’s famous Corn MAiZE

September 23, 2008

Autumn has arrived and everybody who is anybody knows its time to head on over to Sauvie Island for the enormous corn maize experience.  As Portland tradition since 1999, this massive corn cutout  brings children and fun spirited adults of all ages out to play each year. Stumbling your way through the maize with only the moonlight to guide you is a ridicules amount of fun.

The creator (Portlander Craig Easterly) of the annual towering cornfield maze at The Pumpkin Patch,  designed this years maze to celebrates Portland and its gorgeous cityscape and surroundings. The “Bridgetown MAiZE” features the city’s bridges, rivers, mountains and outdoor spirit. Easterly promises that crossing the newly built Sauvie Island Bridge, and finding The Pumpkin Patch, is the easy part. Finding your way out of the 5-acre labyrinth will be both a physical and mental challenge for everyone who partakes.

Bring your rain boots to protect from the mud and while you are there take a few minutes for a hay ride or a stroll through the pumpkin patch!
