Portland Pride Festival 2008

The 2008 Portland Pride Festival and Parade will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 14th-15th at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland, OR. Festival hours of operation will be from Noon-11:00pm on Saturday and Noon-6:00pm on Sunday. This year’s chosen theme is “Pride. Bring It.”

As always, expect a diverse and entertaining line-up of performers, with non-stop entertainment from 1:00-11:00pm on Saturday and 1:00-6:00pm on Sunday. Pride Northwest and Our House are working together this year to generate food and support for people living with HIV and AIDS. Please bring a canned food item (or many) to the Pride Festival and drop it in one of their donation boxes!

The Pride Parade itself will go down at 11:00 am on Sunday, June 15th. For the parade route and other info about this year’s festivities, go to pridenw.org.

Music on Main Street

Pet Aid Concert 2008!

If you’ve visited the Oregon Humane Society Shelter on NE Columbia Blvd in the last year or so, then you know what an amazing facility it is and what a great service it provides. Unfortunately, good things don’t usually come cheap. It costs a lot to staff and maintain such a place. That’s why the Oregon Humane Society has teamed up with McMenamins to put on Pet Aid 2008, featuring music from Spoon, Presidents of the United States of America and Nada Surf. $2 of every ticket will go directly to the Dove Lewis Building Project and OHS’s Second Chance program, the latter of which brings over 2,000 animals every year from shelters throughout the state for a second chance at adoption. The program has a 100% success record of finding new homes for these animals. The 2008 Pet Aid concert takes June 13th at McMenamins Edgefield.
