We just can’t get enough of The Goodfoot around here. The two-story building, in the Hawthorne neighborhood, is -at once- a dance hall, a pool hall, and a neighborhood bar…several very different venues under one roof! Either floor comprises a full night in itself, but people frequently venture up and down the stairs, and you should, too.
Upstairs is the wide-open, brightly lit bar and art gallery. I love the huge, comfy booths – perfect for you and your five closest friends to gather over some pints. There’s a full bar and always something organic on tap. The food menu presents a selection of above-average pub grub – a decent burger, good fries, plenty of fried food – along with salads, sandwiches, and wraps. The art is, well, trippy, and is displayed alongside numerous concert posters. Worth mentioning are the well-maintained pool tables and the pinball – fun!
Happy Hour (5 pm to 9 pm daily) gets you $2 PBR, $3.50 organic drafts, free pool, free jukebox, and more.
Downstairs is the dimly lit dance hall, where a modest cover usually gets you in. Musical acts on most nights tend to favor the jam band/bluegrass end of the spectrum, which is fine, but you know what’s even better? DJ Aquaman’s Soul Stew, happening most Fridays (check the schedule). Bring your friends, get your groove on. My experience? Always good times, zero creepiness, everyone’s loose, and you feel like you’re dancing in your friends’ parents basement…in a good way.
